Chicken pox is caused due to a virus. It is highly contagious and afflicts children as well as adults. However, when children get chicken pox, the symptoms are not that severe as when adults get it. With the advent of varicella vaccine, the incidence of chicken pox has greatly reduced in the US but there are still some cases.
Causes of Chicken Pox: Herpes Zoster Virus, Contact with broken chickenpox blisters, Poor immune system.
Some Symptoms of Chicken Pox: Decreased appetite, Mild headache, Fever, Rash on the upper chest or back, Weakness. Some of them may not even be noticeable. The first signs of chicken pox set off very sudden and there are cases when the chicken pox patient will actually have no symptoms at all. A mild fever, some weakness and tiredness are the first chicken pox symptoms that you will feel, after the incubation period is over. Soon after this signs of chicken pox, a rash will start to appear on your skin. At first only some areas of your body will be affected by these tiny, red spots. The main target of chicken pox rash are at first the chest and back. Then, just in a couple of hours it will spread all over your body. Even places like the mouth and scalp will eventually be affected by chicken pox
The chickenpox infection can be spread through directly affecting someone who is infected or through respiratory droplets from the infected person sneezing or coughing. Research shows that 90% of people who are exposed will develop the infection. It may take up to 14 days for the symptoms to show themselves.
The infection will cause a rash and small blisters that are filled with liquid that will break open and then scab over. Symptoms of chickenpox include; fever, itchiness, headache, dry cough, discomfort, loss of appetite, and stomach pains.
For adults getting the disease is actually more dangerous than in the case of children because of the risk to develop complications such as bacterial pneumonia. To fight chicken pox doctors have researched and found a vaccine in 1995 witch they recommend to shot any child 12 months or older who hasn't already had the disease. Having very few side effects, it is able to protect more than 95% from getting a serious case of chicken pox. The only downside is that it fails to completely immunize some 10 to 30 percent of the children, still this kids only get a very mild case of the disease.
It is important to keep your children isolated if they are infected with chickenpox. They are highly contagious to others even before the skin rash appears. Only after the blisters made a crust over the infection will not be contagious any more. It is prohibited to let your child go to school if he has chickenpox. Also ask your doctor to come visit him at home and avoid carrying him out to his office.

QUESTION:
How to get rid of chicken pox scars?
I have two. chicken pox scars on my face and their really annoying their like dents and is their a way to get rid of them with home remedies????? PLZ HELP!!!!-
ANSWER:
One of the most effective means of getting rid of chicken pox scars is to mix a few drops of lemon juice with two teaspoons of cucumber juice.Apply this mixture on the affected areas for visible results. While lemon juice has a natural bleaching property that makes skin irregularities look less prominent, cucumber juice tightens the skin naturally, and evens out scars and marks gradually. Another useful remedy is to mix a two teaspoon each of honey, aloe vera juice, and lemon juice. Apply this mixture on the scars. Follow this remedy every day for a few months in order to make the scars look less conspicuous. Alternatively, a mixture of cocoa butter, honey and turmeric powder might also help fade chicken pox scars if used regularly over a period of time.
Another popular and time-tested method of getting rid of old scars is to mix two tablespoons of sandalwood powder with a little rose water and a teaspoon of milk cream. Apply this paste on the affected portions of your skin. Leave it on until your skin begins to feel dry and then rinse it away gently with cold water. Regular application of this natural skin pack will help fade away the scars slowly. You should also massage your skin with virgin coconut oil every night before going to bed. This not only soothes the skin but also helps in the natural healing process, thereby giving your skin a more uniform texture. Simply rubbing the skin with an ice cube for 5 minutes every day also helps tighten the skin and makes your skin firmer and smoother. You may also apply vitamin E oil on the affected parts of the skin after bathing every day, or else burst a few vitamin E capsules and smear their contents on the scars to make them grow lighter. Topical application of tea tree oil is known to be of use in fading away pox scars. In addition, to prevent allergic skin reactions caused by mosquito bites, apply a mosquito-repellent skin cream regularly, and keep a bottle of aloe vera extract ready to treat skin rashes and eruptions caused by mosquito bites.

QUESTION:
How can i make chicken pox scars go away?
Hi,it has been 1 months and 1week since i had chicken pox and scars are left on my face what should i do?i have pimples so i use a tube named"clindamycin and nicotinamide gel faceclin"will it effect the scars.:)-
ANSWER:
Coat chicken-pox scars liberally in honey once a day.
Rub raw garlic on your chicken-pox scars at night.
If your scars are new, rub sandalwood oil on them. Do this for a few months and you just might prevent your scar from setting in the first place.
If your scars are very old, rub coconut oil on them every morning.
Drink up — water, that is. Many say that if you drink 80 ounces of water a day (yes, that’s a lot, so stay close to a bathroom!) you will not only flush out the toxins in your system but also significantly diminish your chicken-pox scars. Water increases circulation and the natural production of collagen, which keeps skin firm and evenly toned. When your skin is evenly toned, your scars are less noticeable.
Are you plagued with subtle chicken-pox scars on your face? Investigate microdermabrasion, a noninvasive facial treatment that revitalizes and regenerates damaged skin. Microdermabrasion removes the surface layer of your skin, which might eliminate mild chicken-pox scars.
If the chicken-pox scars on your face are deep and severe, you may consider a photo facial. This technique uses laser lights to rejuvenate the skin from the inside out by breaking apart the pigment that gives the scar its color.
If your chicken-pox scars don’t respond to any of these treatments, talk to your doctor about a surgical alternative. You may be able to have the scars excised — surgically removed — but only if your chicken-pox scars are very deep.
Chicken-pox scars don’t necessarily have to last a lifetime. There are steps you can take to minimize the look of chicken-pox scars safely and easily.
Good luck and God bless you

Well not really remove I guess, but to make them disappear.
I really don't know if they were from chicken pox or acne.

ANSWER:
Hello,How to Get Rid of Acne:
Application of Ice
This is an easy way to get rid of pimples overnight. You have to pack up some crushed ice in an aluminum foil in order to prevent them from getting melted quickly. Then put it inside a plastic bag and wrap up the pack with a thin towel. Now apply it over the pimples for 10 to 15 minutes. This will shrink the pores forcing the oil and dirt out of it. When the two main culprits are out, you can expect the pimple to clear up in no time.Toothpaste
You can get rid of pimples overnight using toothpaste. Many people find it highly beneficial for this purpose. Take some toothpaste on the tip of your finger and apply it on the pimple in such a way that the entire pimple is covered up with the toothpaste properly. Leave it on the pimple overnight. Next morning when you wash it off with warm water, you will be pleasantly surprised with the result. The trick is that the toothpaste absorb all the oil from the pimple and reduce its size so much that it becomes invisible. However, a toothpaste with gel content is not suitable for this treatment.Baking Soda
Baking soda is considered as one of the best home remedies for getting rid of pimples overnight. Prepare a thick paste using one cup of baking soda, 3 tablespoons of salt and some water. Rub this paste gently over the affected areas of your face making small circular motions. Leave it on the acne for few minutes and then wash your face with cool water. The exfoliant property of the salt removes the dead skin cells from the pores. The baking soda soften up the skin and restore the normal pH balance of the skin. As a result, the pimple clears up fast.Egg Mask
A simple egg mask can help you in getting rid of pimples from your face. Take one or two eggs as per your requirement. Break them and separate the white portion of the eggs from the yolk. It is the egg white that you need to apply as facial mask on your face. Keep it on the face overnight and then wash off with cold water.Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is known for its healing and disinfecting properties. To apply it, start with washing the face thoroughly with an antibacterial soap. Pat dry with a towel and then taking a cotton ball apply apple cider vinegar evenly on the affected skin. Leave on for fifteen minutes before washing it off with cold water.Clear Acne Scars Naturally:
Tea Tree Oil: This natural oil is also very effective to clear acne scars fast but make sure to purchase pure tea tree oil from a reliable source. This approach, that involves applying 2-3 drops of tea tree oil on the scar, has proven beneficial to clear the scars.
Honey: Usage of honey is yet another way to erase those unsightly marks. However, before you use this natural remedy, exfoliating the skin is very important. Use of exfoliating brush removes the dead cells that have accumulated on the scars. Applying honey after gentle exfoliation ensures successful removal of acne scars at the earliest.
So, after you gently exfoliate the affected area for around 2-3 minutes, take Manuka honey and spread it on the skin showing scars. Once, you have applied it properly, let it remain for 20 minutes. Then rinse your face using warm water and natural soap. Follow this skin care regimen for about a month and you will definitely notice healthy glowing skin free from acne scars.
Vitamin E: Vitamin E tops the list of nutrients when it comes to overall well-being of the skin. The nutrient protects the skin from the ravaging effects of free radicals. Hence, it is no surprising that topical use of vitamin E lotion can work wonders to eliminate acne scars. Application of vitamin E lotion twice daily that does not contain any mineral oil can definitely lead to substantial reduction of acne scars. Instead of lotion, one may use vitamin E oil and then leave it on the face for 15 minutes. You are then expected to wash your face with a mild cleanser.
Pureed Fruit: Pureed fruits like apple and pineapple are full of ascorbic acid, an important ingredient of many skin care products. Ascorbic acid has shown to be beneficial in lightening acne scars and improving the look of the skin. Gently rub the puree of pineapple or apple on the face. Allow it to settle and do not remove it for 15 minutes. You can then wash it off with warm water.
Lemon Juice: Daily application of fresh lemon juice (3-4 drops) on the acne scars can also help to clear this skin problem as early as possible. For severe acne scars, application of lemon juice may only lighten the scar, and might not remove it entirely.
Take care! Mama Bear

QUESTION:
Is it OK to wash your face, when you have the chicken pox?
I`m starting to get the chicken pox, and my skin is rreally oily, and I wash my face and put stuff on it (3 step system) is it OK to put it on my face, or will it hurt, or something?
both of my brothers just had it, so now I`m getting them-
ANSWER:
As long as you can tolerate it, it's best to leave your face alone for the time being. You can aggravate the pox causing it to burst thus leaving permanent scars. Your face may itch as a result causing it to be unbearable. Use instead Calamine lotion. This will help cool your face and prevents it from getting itch.

Is acne and pimple scar the same? I have scars on my face and dont know what is the best solution for it. I wanna get rid of it because i have a hard time in public! I was looking up in the internet and saw Scar Zone A and was wondering if it is useful. PLZ any advise would be useful.-
ANSWER:
More and more people are looking for natural and holistic ways to heal scars from acne, chicken pox, injury or surgery. While some topical creams and medical procedures such as dermabrasion and laser resurfacing may lessen the appearance of scarring, they are often very costly and harmful to the skin.Natural treatments such as herbal remedies are less invasive and gentle to use on the skin. Herbs such as Galium aperine (Cleavers) and Trifolium pratense (red clover) have a wide range of therapeutic benefits that act as a cleansing tonic, blood purifier and lymphatic cleanser.
Homeopathic ingredients such as Natrium muriaticum, Kalium muriaticum and Kalium sulphate help to maintain skin health and support the regenerative processes of the skin.
Herbal ingredients such as Tea Tree Oil & Neem contain antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiseptic properties and are not only effective for acne but for other skin conditions too. Other herbs such as Rooibos and Bulbine frutescence (a South African herb) have wonderful antioxidant and healing properties and also help to prevent skin infection and provide ongoing relief. In addition, Lavender essential oil acts as a circulatory stimulant and antiseptic, and is used to treat burns and wounds and to prevent scarring.

QUESTION:
How to remove dark spots on my legs?
I got a lots of scars and dark spots on my legs caused of chicken pox a few months ago, what should i do? Without lacer?
Thank you!
-
ANSWER:
I will assume you those dark spots are hyperpigmentation. When there is an allergic reaction, mechanical injury, irritation, inflammation, or infection, hyperpigmentation can be formed. The damage causes melanocytes in the stratum basale of the epidermis to produce excess melanin as a defense mechanism. Thus, you have hyperpigmentation. It comes in all sizes from spots to patches to larger section of the face depending on the severity of condition.
To CORRECT the hyperpigmentation:
1)You can exfoliate with one or a combination of the following alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA): glycolic acid, lactic acid, malic acid, or mandelic acid.2)Or, you can exfoliate with: beta hydroxy acid (salicylic acid) or beta-lipohydroxy acid (capryloyl salicylic acid).
NOTE: Glycolic acid has the most research. Products with AHA in 5-20% concentration are effective and safe at pH 3-4. On the other hand, products with BHA or LHA are effective and safe in 0.5-2% concentration at pH 3-4. The frequency of application depends on your skin tolerance to the acid. You can acclimate to higher strength as you build your tolerance starting with a lower concentration.3)You can use one or a combination of skin-lighteners to inhibit melanin formation: Hydroquinone or its derivative (arbutin), kojic acid, vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) or its derivatives (e.g., magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, sodium ascorbyl phosphate, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate and a few others), vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) or its derivative (Myristyl Nicotinate)
NOTE: Hydroquinone is the GOLD-STANDARD. Over-the-counter strength is 1-2%.To PROTECT and PREVENT future darkening:
1)You should use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 15 or greater and reapply after swimming, excessive perspiration, or every 2 hours for optimal photoprotection. UV-rays can darken the skin as well as significantly increase the risk of skin cancer.2)Avoid the sun from 10AM to 4 PM because that is the time when the sun rays are the most intense.
If you have stubborn hyperpigmentation, then you can request a prescription of hydroquinone 4% or higher with or without retinoid or steroid from a board-certified dermatologist. Or, ask your doctor about chemical peels and laser resurfacing.

QUESTION:
How to lessen acne scars?
For some reason my acne has left some rather severe marks on my face. In some areas there are like little scar holes similar to the ones people get from chicken pox, except I have never had chicken pox and they came from my acne instead. my mom has these also(some heredity maybe?) But she said they came from popping her zits which I have never done. They are there nevertheless. I'm also having a problem that every zit I get leaves a big red scar that lasts for several months after its gone, I suppose its because I have very pale skin, but its quite bothersome and terrible looking. I know the scars will lessen in time, is there something i can use to either prevent scars like these or to help the ones I have? My acne is under control now, but the scars are still there and they look rather bad.-
ANSWER:
OK lets be real, acne's a b**** and it's the worst thing to get over but its not impossible. The best thing out there for it right now is Acutane, but, it is not for everyone that's why it is only obtained by a Dr's prespription. Some people tend to be allergic to the medicine, for a few percentage it does not work for, but usually it does, for everyone, even though after you stop using it the acne comes back, like with every other medicine after the treatment is over. It is really harsh on your body though, for women they can't take contraceptives or have kids due to some serious problems that can occur while taking it, other people experience horrible peeling and dryness.Apart from all this, i used to have acne, apparently not bad enough for Acutane (according to my dermatologist) but it was still bad (at least i thought it was), so i was recommended this over the counter medicine called "Nature's Cure". They have two medicines, one formulated for men, and another for women, and among these they have the topical creams and face washes as well as pills that work from the inside out. I personally tried the cream and face wash. Since i started using it i have yet gotten another pimple, seriously, my face is progressing miraculously, alot of the blemishes are gone, including all the scars (which is what you want), almost all. Smooth skin, it does dry it a little bit but barely, everyone's complimented on it. A few more weeks and my face will be completely clear. To help with this i also get facials done, everyonce in a while to help with the deep cleaning, which helps alot to remove stubborn clogs and blackheads and so forth.
I know not all of these over the counter medicines work for everyone, like myself that i've tried Proactive and Murad and all those things and i actually got my face worse due to them. But this one worked, see if you can find it in a neighborhood pharmacy or drugstore, or supermarket (which some of them also sell them), or online in their website.
Well i hope this helps you and good luck with what ever you end up trying.

Unprotected exposure to the sun (without sunscreen) can help to heal blemishes and stimulate production of vitamin D in the skin. However, limit your exposure to 2-4 times a week for no longer than 15 minutes. Choose a time before 10:30 a.m. or after 4:00 p.m., when the sun's rays are not as strong. Note: Excessive sun exposure can cause long-term damage to the skin, which can result in skin cancer. Avoid any prolonged exposure to sunlight.
Care Tips
·Acne can also be caused by fluctuating hormones, stress, certain medications, food allergies and a diet high in fat. Determine if your outbreak is due to one of these factors and use the night gel for quick acne relief.
·To prevent further aggravation of your existing pimples, keep your hands scrupulously clean and away from your face. Resist the urge to squeeze or pick at acne, which could further inflame an outbreak and result in permanent scarring or pitting. Other basic tips are keeping your hair clean and away from your face; and sanitizing your telephone daily to remove bacteria that can help promote acne infection on your jaw-line.
·Many commercial care products for oily skin contain isopropyl alcohol, benzoyl peroxide and acetone, all of which excessively strip the skin surface oil. In addition, these products can dehydrate the skin, which, in turn causes the skin to produce even more oil to make up for the deficit.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil has an anesthetic benefit without numbness; it is anti-bacterial, killing bacteria after only 20 seconds exposure; it is a natural fungicide; it causes the necrotic tissue to slough and heals without scarring in just a couple of days; it penetrates into the deeper tissues, down into the connective tissue and muscles; it is a natural antiseptic; it is an effective solvent and therefore a natural cleanser, able to dissolve stains and resins.Tea tree oil helps to prevent infection in minor cuts, wounds, abrasions, athlete's foot, jock itch, yeast infections, minor burns, sunburn, insect bites, stinging nettles, chicken pox, herpes lesions, bleeding gums, canker sores, gingivitis, strep throat, mosquito repellent, strengthen the immune system, muscle aches and pains, bronchitis, shingles.... the list is almost endless!
Because tea tree oil kills viruses, bacteria and fungi, it can heal internal and external infections. It is safe to use undiluted on the most sensitive and delicate parts of the body.
Acne is a tremendously embarrassing and burdensome problem. It is easy to feel that you don't have control over your breakouts. But the fact is, you do. Now, your first response may be to assume that I'm going to recommend you see your dermatologist. Well, think again. Natural remedies can be just as effective and medications. Possibly more powerful. Sometimes, all your body needs is the right nutritional balance and proper skin care. Here are some easy things you can start doing today to help you heal your acne. You should notice a difference in about 4 weeks.
·Apply a honey mask to your face once or twice a week - Honey has antibacterial properties so it is great for disinfecting and healing minor blemishes. It is also gentle on sensitive skin.
·Wash twice a day with acne soap - You should wash your face twice a day with a sulfur based soap designed for acne. Once when you first wake up in the morning and then, right before you go to bed at night. Be extremely gentle to your skin when washing - do not scrub or use any sort of rough cloth. Overwashing your skin will actually stimulate your sebaceous glands to produce more sebum, thus increasing your acne.
·Keep your hair off your face - If you have long hair or bangs, pull your hair off your face. Your hair contains oils as well, and will contribute to your breakouts. Youíll also want to wash your hair everyday and after workouts
·Take a potent multi-vitamin - Acne can be a sign that something is wrong on the inside. Your skin depends on nutrition. It is a vital organ that is usually neglected. If your body is not receiving the right nutrition, it will fight back. One common way it will rebel is to produce excessive sebum, clogging pores, and reducing the ability for your skin to heal and fight bacteria.
·Include chromium in your diet - Chromium is well known for weight loss diets. But it is also excellent for healing infections on the skin. Taking a chromium supplement once a day will help heal your pimples quickly and prevent future breakouts.
·Eat carrots for beta-carotene (Vitamin A) - Vitamin A strengthens the protective tissue of the skin and actually prevents acne. It helps reduce sebum production. This vitamin is essential for the maintenance and repair of the tissue which the skin and mucous membranes are made of. Vitamin A is also a powerful antioxidant needed to rid your body of toxins. Did you know that a deficiency in vitamin A can actually cause acne?
·Avoid wearing makeup - Leaving makeup products on your skin only contributes to clogging your pores, causing more pimples and blackheads. If you feel you must wear makeup, be sure it is water-based.
·Drink 8 glasses of water - Drinking water is essential for clean skin and your overall health. Water is essential for carrying waste material out of your body... and is quite possibly flare-ups
·Do not pick or squeeze your blackheads and pimples - As tempting as it may be, do not squeeze, scratch, rub or touch your pimples and blackheads. Do any of these actions, actually increases the sebum production. Plus, when you squeeze, you are actually rupturing the membranes below your skin, causing infection and sebum to spread underneath your skin. The result is more pimples.
·Wash your pillow case every other day - Your face lays on your pillow case every day. Your pillow case absorbs the oils from your skin and reapplies the dirt and oil. Thus causing breakouts. Keep your sheets and pillow cases clean.
·Eat foods rich in zinc - Zinc is an antibacterial agent and a necessary element in the oil-producing glands of the skin. A diet low in zinc can actually cause acne breakouts. How 8 Glasses of Water a Day Can Keep Acne Away
Drinking water is essential for clean skin and your overall health. Water is essential for carrying waste material out of your body... and is quite possibly the single most important contributor to healing and preventing acne flare-ups.How much water should you be drinking every day? Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water a day for beautiful skin.
Your body is made up of 70 percent water. Water is literally your body's life force. It is involved in nearly every bodily process, including digestion, absorption, circulation and excretion.
Water is also the primary transporter of nutrients throughout your body. If not enough water is consumed, toxins can build up causing breakouts. Water flushes these toxins out.
Without adequate water, we would poison ourselves with our own metabolic wastes. Your kidneys remove waste products that must be dissolved by water. So, by drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day, you are flushing out the toxins that would normally escape through the pores of your skin... thus preventing acne breakouts.
Your kidneys cannot function properly without enough water. When they do not work to capacity, some of the load is dumped onto your liver.
One of your liver's primary functions is to metabolize stored fat into usable energy for your body. But, if your liver has to do some of the kidney's work, it cannot work at full capacity. A liver that is not performing at its best can worsen acne because it cannot break down and clear excess hormones from your body.
Water helps maintain proper muscle tone, by giving muscles their natural ability to contract and by preventing dehydration. Shrinking cells are buoyed by water which plumps your skin and leaves it clear, healthy and resilient.
More important information about water
Water is also extremely important in losing weight and keeping it off. Water suppresses the appetite and helps your body metabolize stored fat.
Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase while an increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits.
Drinking 8 glasses of water a day can also eliminate water retention. Sodium may be a cause of water retention. Water flushes the sodium out of your system.
Water can help relieve constipation. When your body gets too little water, it siphons what it needs from internal sources. The colon is one primary source. The result is constipation. But if you drink enough water, normal bowel function returns. So, drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day.
Your body will not function properly without enough water and cannot rid itself of wastes and toxins. Drinking water is essential for clear, healthy skin.

QUESTION:
What is the best thing for a kid with chicken pox to keep her from itching and scarring?-
ANSWER:
Head for the kitchen cabinet ... then the bath. "The best home remedy to relieve the itching from chickenpox is to mix 1 cup of white kitchen vinegar, 1/2 cup of baking soda and one to two capfuls of Alpha Keri body oil in a bath," says Marian H. Putnam, M.D., a pediatrician in Boston and clinical instructor of pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine. "After a good soak of 15 to 20 minutes, leave the bathtub and then apply Dyprotex cream, an over-the-counter product that is sold as pads or in lotion form. This relieves itching better than some of the other anti-itch formulas, and since it doesn't crust like those other drying agents, there's less chance of scarring."You can also soak a washcloth in the bath and just apply it to the face to soothe the itching, according to Dr. Putnam.
File nails daily. "Kids will tear themselves up trying to scratch themselves, so I recommend you get a few emery boards and file their nails down, literally on a daily basis," says Dr. Sterne. "Most people simply cut the nails, but doing that doesn't give you as smooth an edge."
Wash 'em, too. "It's a good idea to scrub a child's nails with soap and water or even a gentle brush once or twice a day in order to prevent secondary infection," says Edgar O. Ledbetter, M.D., former chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
Nix the itch with oatmeal baths. Doctors recommend colloidal baths using preparations such as colloidal oatmeal to treat itchy skin. "I recommend twice-daily colloidal baths for patients with chickenpox, because colloidal oatmeal is nonirritating and soothing and has a slight anti-inflammatory effect," says Lawrence Charles Parish, M.D., a Philadelphia dermatologist. (Colloidal oatmeal, such as Aveeno, can be purchased in any drugstore. It is simply raw oatmeal that's been ground to a fine powder.)
Keep cool. English researchers speculated in the British Medical Journal that keeping patients cooler than usual might result in milder cases with fewer pockmarks. This is still in the theory stage, but Dr. Sterne has a possible explanation: "When people are warmer, they do tend to itch more, and the rushes are more prominent," he says. (And you'll note that more pockmarks appear on "warm" areas of the body, such as the armpits and groin.)
Forget steroid creams. Probably the biggest and most dangerous mistake people make in treating chickenpox is reaching for relief with an over-the-counter anti-itch cream. "Never put on a steroid cream like Cortaid, because using it may cause an additional bacterial infection," according to Henry M. Feder, Jr., M.D., professor of family medicine and pediatrics at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington. "Besides that, it can make the pox a lot worse."
Try to limit exposure. While it's practically guaranteed that an infected family member will pass chickenpox to others who haven't previously been exposed, limiting contact with the "contagious" child can make for a milder case. "There's a trend that the more time you spend around the person who initially has it, the longer and worse your case will be," says Dr. Feder.

QUESTION:
Best way to remove acne scars on med-dark skin?
I am African American and have medium brown skin. Basically the same color as Rihanna, but without the clear skin. I have a lot of dark marks on my face and neck from acne and a few from ingrown hairs. I rarely have any breakouts anymore, but the scars are still there. Are there any good over the counter products that would work for me?-
ANSWER:
Scars cannot be removed completely and traces will always be left on the skin. For scars to heal effectively, it is very important not to scratch or squeeze scabs, wounds or acne. There are several treatment options that can improve the appearance of a scar and make it less visible. Over-the-counter or prescription ointments, creams or gels are often used to treat scars.Sometimes corticosteroids or antihistamine creams are administered for scars that may cause itching. Scar plasters are sticking plasters that may help to reduce or soften the scar. In cases where scarring is a result of severe acne, your doctor or dermatologist may use pressure treatings or silicone gel sheetings to treat scars. For protruding scars such as keloids or hypertronic, steroid injections may be used. Collagen injections may also be helpful in treating pitted scars.
Natural remedies
Oleum Lavandula is well-known for its soothing and healing properties and has been used for centuries to heal and prevent scarring.
Symphytum has been traditionally used to promote healing and cell regeneration; making it useful for treating scars and skin disorders.

QUESTION:
Can anyone have 15-20 permenant chicken pox scars on their face?
i have many spots left behind on my face from chicken pox so i was wondering if anyone else has ever lived a hopeless life lyk tht or do they fade away?btw, what can i do to make them fade away quicker! i am a teen and feel very bad abt this
-
ANSWER:
It depends on how long you've had them. Wait about 4 weeks to see if they show signs of fading. If they start to fade, then let them fade naturally and maybe use some creams to help the process (Mederma is good). DO NOT try anything that would irritate your skin as this would most likely prevent complete healing and scar the face permanently. No exfoliates. These only cleanse away impurities, which has nothing to do with skin discoloration. They also tighten the skin and irritate those spots. The same goes for lemon juice.
It is possible that they would not heal completely since you are older but try to avoid going to the extreme and making the situation worse.

ANSWER:
Even though I'm a man, I've always loved a good facial and treat my skin whenever possible. The result has been and mass amount of compliments from random strangers to friends asking what's my secret for such a bright, soft face. The secret isn't as complex as the ficitinous DaVinci's code, but easy to find in a few specialty stores a bit of time. After following the next few steps, you too will be graced with flawless skin.
Difficulty: Moderately EasyInstructionsThings You'll Need:
Products that will work for your face
Time
Good old water
1First of all, take time to realize what type of skin you have. Is it oily? Is it dry? Combination? Sensitive. These are the most important factors to consider before you even continue with the next step. If you're not sure, speak to a dermatolagist to help determine your facial components. Or, take a thin napkin and press it over your face. Lift it to the light. Where you see oily marks can obviously indicate your greasy skin.2Products. This can be quite a task and may take a small period of sampling various products before you finally find that one product that suits you. And remember, buy products that are formulated for you skin. For greasy skin, buy a facial matte lotion to give a powdery look to help even the shine and not be heavy. For dry skin, rich creams in Shea Butter can be super beneficial.
I personally love the products of L'Occitane en Provence. From their shampoos and soaps to facial creams, L'Occitane (which means The Girl from Occitania, a region stretching from the Spanish to Italian border in the south of France)makes their products natural based so its pleasing to the skin. They are also high with the celebrities (Jennifer Lopez, Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, and David Beckham are fans of the line). I have dry skin so their Shea butter has been wondrous for me and the best thing about L'Occitane is everything is catalogued for your skin type. Feel free to ask for samples and talk to the workers. They're always friendly.Another line I love, that is really great for men, is LAB series by Aramis. their products are powerful and really help stimulate the skin. Their Gel Hyrdator is excellent for dry skin.
3Masks are another biggie too. I use three masks and use one once a week. Its a great treatment to refresh the skin and keep it alive and stimulating. Like creams, make sure you get ones that are beneficial and modified for your face. Two of my favorites are La Crème Masque by L'Occitane en Provence, which is a milk light weight mask that tightens the skin to prevent wrinkles and helps increase luminosity, and Dead Sea mud, an ancient beauty secret of Cleopatra that help rejuvenate the skin.
4When you have sampled are ready to buy, the following in a must to buy for proper skin treatment and you can buy them, like creams, to formulate your face (for oily, dry, sensitive, etc.)
1) Face Wash
2) Toner (a liquid or cream that cleans and tightens complexion)
3) Eye cream (to eliminate dry patches or dark circles or wrinkles)
4) Face Cream5If necessary, a face exfoliation can be quiet helpful to rid skin of excess dirt or black heads. I recommend L'Occitane Olive Face Scrub.

dont be afraid of chicken pox,i too got chickenpox 4 years back .i too afraid at first, but then...i understood that ,there is nothing to worry ,
INFORMATION BELOW ARE GIVEN BY MY FAMILY DOCTOR FOR YOU ;JUST DONT WORRY ,A highly contagious disease, chicken pox is a viral infection that is usually prevalent in small children, aged 3 to 20. Although the instances are few and far between, chicken pox can affect adults as well and in this case, it is much more severe than that in kids. Chicken pox can spread by direct contact or breathing in the air that has germs from an affected person's cough or sneeze. The most usual symptoms of chicken pox include low grade fever, mild headache, rash, loss of appetite and a feeling of weakness. It might be amusing, but the symptoms of chicken pos are not visible until it reaches the infectious stage. Vaccinations have reduced the instance of chicken pox, but the disease has not vanished altogether. Chicken pox is usually caused due to the virus called varicella-zoster. It might not be possible to completely cure chicken pox, as it would go on its own. However, the irritation and itching involved with it can be minimized, using some home remedies.
Home Remedy For Chicken Pox;
One of the most effective ways of treating chicken pox would be using brown vinegar. Add ½ cup vinegar to lukewarm bathwater. Apart from lessening the irritation, it would also help heal the lesions.
Add 2 tbsp marigold flowers and 1 tsp hazel leaves in a cup of water and steep them overnight. In the morning, grind it and apply the mixture on the rash. It would help relieve the itching.Put a bowl of water in a pan and add green peas to it. Place it on flame and set it to boil. Once boiled, strain the water and apply it on the affected area. This would relieve the irritation and itching.
Sandalwood oil also proves helpful in treating chicken pox. Apply the oil on the rashes right from the time chicken pox appears till its last days. It would also prevent scars from blemishing the skin.
Coat the affected area with honey. It would not only relieve you of the irritation, but would also heal the rash.
Grind oatmeal into a fine powder. Add 2 cups of this powder to the bath water. For better results, add one to one and a half cup of baking soda to the same water. It would help in healing the lesions
Consumption of carrot and coriander soup would be beneficial in the treatment of chicken pox. Take about 100 grams of carrots and 60 grams of fresh coriander and finely chop them. Boil this mixture for a while. Strain the concoction, cool it down and drink it once a day.Immerse a handful of neem leaves in your bath water. It would provide healing effect and cure you of irritation.
Application of Vitamin E oil on the rashes is another effective home remedy for chicken pox. Not only does it help prevent the itching, but also removes the scars quickly.
Make a tea using chamomile, basil, marigold and lemon balm. Add a pinch of cinnamon, honey, and lemon to enhance its healing property. Consuming this tea several times a day would be very beneficial.
Mix 2 tbsp of queen of the meadow, 1 tsp of coltsfoot leaves and 2 tsp of marigold flowers in 2 cups of boiling water. After boiling the water for about 20 minutes, strain it. Cool the decoction and have it once a day.
''dont forget to take more more water (2 to 3 litres of water )daily along with coconut water (daily)''
it will be cured soon.please please..dont worry..there is nothing to worry.it is like common cold.NO DANGER,NO FEAR...TAKE CARE . IF U CAN NOT FOLLOW THE ABOVE ADVICE ,JUST APPLY CALAMINE LOTION.YOU WILL FEEL VERY COOL AND APPLY BETADINE OINTMENT ON THOSE SORES.(USE BETADINE ONLY AT THE END STAGE OF CHICKEN POX).APPLY CALAMINE LOTION FROM NOW ONWARDS

QUESTION:
What do you know about the shingles?
My Mom called me this morning in extreme pain. She said she had two pimples and her back was killing her the other day.Now she has a rash on her back and sides - almost all over. It is a blister like rash.
What do you know?
IS IT CONTAGIOUS?
-
ANSWER:
This is what I found out ........
No, shingles is not contagious ........ BUT you can spread the chicken pox to someone who hasn't had it before while you have the rash ........Shingles (herpes zoster) is a viral infection of the nerve roots. It causes pain and often causes a rash on one side of the body, the left or right. The rash appears in a band, a strip, or a small area. Shingles is most common in older adults and people who have weak immune systems because of stress, injury, certain medicines, or other reasons. Most people who get shingles will get better and will not get it again.
Shingles occurs when the virus that causes chickenpox starts up again in your body. After you get better from chickenpox, the virus "sleeps" (is dormant) in your nerve roots. In some people, it stays dormant forever. In others, the virus "wakes up" when disease, stress, or aging weakens the immune system. It is not clear why this happens. But after the virus becomes active again, it can only cause shingles, not chickenpox.
You can't catch shingles from someone else who has shingles.
Shingles symptoms happen in stages. At first you may have a headache or be sensitive to light. You may also feel like you have the flu but not have a fever.
Later, you may feel itching, tingling, or pain in a certain area. That’s where a band, strip, or small area of rash may occur a few days later. The rash turns into clusters of blisters. The blisters fill with fluid and then crust over. It takes 2 to 4 weeks for the blisters to heal, and they may leave scars. Some people only get a mild rash, and some do not get a rash at all.
It’s possible that you could also feel dizzy or weak, or you could have long-term pain or a rash on your face, changes in your vision, changes in how well you can think, or a rash that spreads. If you have any of these problems from shingles, call your doctor right away.
There is no cure for shingles, but treatment may help you get well sooner and prevent other problems. Call your doctor as soon as you think you may have shingles. The sooner you start treatment, the better it works. Treatment may include:
-Antiviral medicines, sometimes given with steroid medicines, to help you get well sooner and feel less pain.
-Medicines to help long-term pain. These include antidepressants, pain medicines, and skin creams.Good home care can help you feel better faster. Take care of any skin sores, and keep them clean. Take your medicines as directed. And use over-the-counter pain medicines to relieve pain.
Avoid contact with people until the rash heals. While you have shingles, you can spread chickenpox to people who have never had chickenpox. Be extra careful to avoid people with weak immune systems and pregnant women and babies who have never had chickenpox. Good luck ......

First you may want to consult with your general doctor to see what he thinks will be the best way for you to make your scars less visible. He may recommend that you see a dermatologist. Your doctor may also recommend that you just use a topical cream for smaller scars.
A dermatologist will be able to prescribe a stronger medication then you can get over the counter. Stronger lotions or creams could be necessary for scars that are darker or even the larger type scars. A dermatologist can also prescribe a drug such as potassium aminobenzoate. This drug can help break down scar tissue and help make the scar a little less visible. This type of drug is used most by dermatologists to treat conditions such as scleroderma. This is a type of disease can cause extensive scarring and hardening of the skin. Because this drug works so well for scleroderma it can work well to make your scars less visible.Topical creams or other supplements that contain vitamin E can also be helpful in making scars less visible. Vitamin E can help speed up the healing process of any cuts or other problems on your skin. You can buy many different types of scar reducing topical creams at most stores with a pharmacy. Read the instructions on the back of the packages to find one that will fit what you need. Some creams require you to apply the cream more than once a day and others require that you use the cream for extended periods of time. Find one that you can work with so that making your scars less visible is easier for you.
Women and men can both use make up to cover up any scars and make them less visible. Make up to make your scars less visible especially scars that are on your face. A trip to the pharmacy can help you to find camouflage make up that will is especially made to cover up your scars and make them less visible.
Another way to make scars less visible is to use silicone gel sheets. These have been used to reduce the visibility of cars by flattening or softening the scars. You can also find these gel sheets from most pharmacies. Silicone gel sheets are best used to treat or prevent hypertrophic and keloid scars, these are scars that are raised and red. The silicone gel sheets are not to be used on open wounds.
For severe scars caused from acne or surgeries that did not heal well you can use laser resurfacing. This is where the top layer of skin is gently removed using lasers. The length of this treatment depends on the size and how dark the sky is. Most people will see the scar have less visibility by 5 or 6 treatments that are space out monthly. Treatments typically last for 30-60 minutes at a time.
Scar revision can sometimes be used to improve the appearance of the scars. This type of scar revision can include skin grafts if the scar isn't healing properly or if too much skin has been lost. This can be the last resort to make your scar less visible because it can take a lot more time and if it still doesn't

QUESTION:
What causes chickenpox? what makes them itch? is there a cure?
are they like mosquito bites that makes them itchy?
is it like a disease like cancer is there a cure
or is it just a coldi heard people can get chicken pox twice in there life (2)

ANSWER:
Fat Boi,
The Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) causes chickenpox. The varicella virus is an enveloped, double-stranded DNA virus. It attaches to the wall of the cell it invades, and then enters the cell. The virus uncoats and is transported to the nucleus where the viral DNA replicates creating new virions that are eventually released from the cell to infect other cells. The disease is highly contagious -- over 90% of nonimmune individuals will develop chickenpox following exposure. VZV is communicable by both direct skin-to-skin contact and via respiratory droplets (for example, coughing, sneezing) from the infected individual. While the average incubation period from viral exposure to onset of symptoms is 12-14 days, a broader post-exposure window of 10-21 days is quoted in the literature. The chicken pox rash begins on the trunk and spreads to the face and extremities. The chicken pox lesion starts as a 2-4 mm red papule which develops an irregular outline (rose petal). A thin-walled, clear vesicle (dew drop) develops on top of the area of redness. This "dew drop on a rose petal" lesion is very characteristic for chicken pox. After about 8-12 hours the fluid in the vesicle gets cloudy and the vesicle breaks leaving a crust. The fluid is highly contagious, but once the lesion crusts over, it is not considered contagious. The crust usually falls off after 7 days sometimes leaving a craterlike scar. Although one lesion goes through this complete cycle in about 7 days, another hallmark of chicken pox is the fact that new lesions crop up every day for several days. Therefore, it may take about a week until new lesions stop appearing and existing lesions crust over. Children are not sent back to school until all lesions have crusted over. The vesicles release chemicals in your skin that excite the nerves that make you itch. These nerves in the top layers of your skin tell the brain when something itches. They are the same nerves that get excited when you get a reaction to a mosquito bite. Shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, the same virus that causes chickenpox. After you've had chickenpox, the virus lies inactive (dormant) in your nerves. Years later, the virus may reactivate as shingles. The rash will follow the path of a nerve. It is more common for this to appear on the chest or abdomen. There is no 'cure' for chickenpox or shingles. However, there is treatment and a vaccine to help prevent the disease. The varicella vaccine is a live but weakened form of the chicken pox (varicella-zoster) virus. Most health organizations recommend that children receive a varicella vaccination at 12 to 18 months of age. Adolescents and adults who are not already immune to the chicken pox virus need two doses at least 4 weeks apart. When a weak form of the virus is injected, the body's immune system reacts. It destroys the virus and makes disease-fighting proteins (antibodies) to fight the virus. The antibodies to that virus stay in the body and will keep the person from getting sick or getting severe symptoms if exposed to the virus again. The person is then considered immune to chicken pox. It is not usual for a person to have chickenpox more than once. Thios is because the immune system usually produces antibodies that prevent this. If the immune system is not healthy, then it is possible for chickenpox to occur again.ALL ANSWERS SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY RESEARCHED, IN ANY FORUM AND ESPECIALLY IN THIS ONE. - MANY ANSWERS ARE FLAWED.

QUESTION:
what are the symptoms/how can i prevent from getting the chicken pox?
my lil siser has them . i got tha shot last year around this time,,,but im afraid i might get them . my dad (who has 7 brothers and sisers) got it but a couple ppl in his family didnt . so he thinks i have a high chance of not getting it . and if i do get it what might i notice or how will i know im geting it/have it ...? (:-
ANSWER:
Symptoms of chicken pox include that:
•children sometimes have a prodrome of fever, malaise, headache, lack of appetite, and mild abdominal pain for 1 to 2 days
•the rash typically appears first on a child's trunk, scalp, and face and consists of small, very itchy, flat red spots, which then turn into raised fluid filled vesicles, often described as looking like a 'dewdrop' that become umbilicated and cloudy and eventually crust over
•the fever only lasts about 2 to 4 days
•new 'crops' of the rash on the child's trunk and then arms and legs continue for about 4 days
•all of the lesions are crusted over about 6 to 7 days after the illness began
•the crusts then fall off in another 7 days, although it sometimes takes up to 20 days, usually without scarring
Although not as common, children with chicken pox can also develop ulcers in their mouth.
More serious symptoms that might indicate a complication of chicken pox has developed include redness around the base of skin lesions, a cough and difficulty breathing, or any neurological symptoms, such as slurred speech, severe headache, vomiting, seizures, or trouble walking.Chickenpox can be prevented . The easiest way to prevent catching chicken pox is to get vaccinated. However, vaccination is only successful in 70% to 90% of all vaccinations. Individuals who have been vaccinated but still acquire chickenpox, usually have a milder disease that heals more quickly than non vaccinated individuals.

QUESTION:
do you have to have herpies to get shingles?
If so do you have to have hvs1 or hvs2 or either?
so basically the reason I'm asking is because my grandmother has had shingles nad my health teacher implied you must have the std herpes to get shingles, true or false?-
ANSWER:
What is shingles?
Shingles (herpes zoster) is a viral infection of the nerve roots. What causes shingles?
Shingles occurs when the virus that causes chickenpox starts up again in your body. After you get better from chickenpox, the virus ”sleeps” (is dormant) in your nerve roots. In some people, it stays dormant forever. In others, the virus “wakes up” when disease, stress, or aging weakens the immune system. It is not clear why this happens. But after the virus becomes active again, it can only cause shingles, not chickenpox.Shingle can be contagious if you have never had chicken pox, if you touch the shingles area
What are the symptoms?
Shingles symptoms happen in stages. At first you may have a headache or be sensitive to light. You may also feel like you have the flu but not have a fever.Later, you may feel itching, tingling, or pain in a certain area.
How is shingles treated?
There is no cure for shingles, but treatment may help you get well sooner and prevent other problems. Call your doctor as soon as you think you may have shingles. The sooner you start treatment, the better it works. Treatment may include:■Antiviral medicines, sometimes given with steroid medicines, to help you get well sooner and feel less pain.
■Medicines to help long-term pain. These include antidepressants, pain medicines, and skin creams.
Good home care can help you feel better faster. Take care of any skin sores, and keep them clean. Take your medicines as directed. And use over-the-counter pain medicines to relieve pain.Avoid contact with people until the rash heals. While you have shingles, you can spread chickenpox to people who have never had chickenpox. Be extra careful to avoid people with weak immune systems and pregnant women and babies who have never had chickenpox.
Who gets shingles?
Anyone who has had chickenpox can get shingles. You have a greater chance of getting shingles if you:1■Are older than 50.
■Have an autoimmune disease that causes your immune system to attack your body’s own tissues.
■Have another health problem or stress that weakens the immune system.
If you have never had chickenpox, avoid touching someone who has shingles or chickenpox. If you are at least 60 years old, you can get a vaccine that may prevent shingles or make it less painful if you do get it.

QUESTION:
Worried about chicken pox scars?
My daughter is two years and a half, and had chicken pox a month ago. The chicken pox is now gone, and we took good care that she didn't scratch her skin. She is left however with several scars, some of which are on her face. I am so surprised, since I definitely scratched a lot more when I had the chicken pox as a child, yet I was left with no scars at all.Are these scars going to vanish ultimately? Is there anything I should have done to prevent this from happening? Is there anything I can still do?
Many thanks
-
ANSWER:
Best to ask a doctor to make sure.Sometimes though, remaining "scars" fade from the child after some time. It could be the scars are from an reaction or something else completely different from the chicken pox. But I'd just talk to a nurse or doctor to make sure.
Usually if you just call your pediatrician or the nurse, they can spare a few minutes just to answer some quick questions.

QUESTION:
How do you get rid off old deep chicken pox scars?
hello,
i have 3 deep chicken pox scars left on my face
since i was a 2 years old (13 years ago).
and since i'm just a 15 years old boy,
i'd like to know if there is any product on the internet
that would help me get rid off those scars,
or at least change their brown color to
my whole skin complexion
so far i have tried to put some lemon on my scars
and used the Meladerm cream for about 4 weeks
with not results so far!
thanks in advance !-
ANSWER:
Well, there is not too much you can do for scars.
Silicone sheeting most accepted treatment
The best products to treat your scar provide hydration, warmth and a silicone occlusion. Also stimulating oxygen supply (blood flow) by massage and mild exercising has shown to be effective. In fact there is no single optimal product that can prevent or eliminate scars. The most accepted treatment is silicone gel sheeting.Other products
Studies have shown silicone gels or ointments are less effective than silicone sheeting. In a preliminary clinical trial, Imiquimod 5% (Aldara) cream has shown to improve the appearance of new hypertrophic scars after surgery but more research has to be done. Other treatments like topical vitamin A and E, pressure therapy and polyurethane dressings could be used. But in all honesty, I used to have deep scars. Dermabrasion from a Dermatologist really reduced the appearance and even made some go away!

QUESTION:
my daughter is five years and she has some kind of blisters in her skin. they are the viruses.?
the doctor told me that they will go away. any idea what causes these viruses on kid's skin and is this normal?-
ANSWER:
My daughter had that and I thought they were chicken Pox, but they weren't it was impetigo, but it didn't leave scars, take her to the doctor asap. It wasn't serious either.
Impetigo, a contagious skin infection that usually produces blisters or sores on the face and hands, is one of the most common skin infections among kids.
Impetigo
It is generally caused by one of two bacteria: group A streptococcus or staphylococcus aureus. Impetigo usually affects preschool and school-age children, especially in the summer months. A child may be more likely to develop impetigo if the skin has already been irritated or injured by other skin problems, such as eczema, poison ivy, insect bites, or a skin allergy to soap or makeup.Good hygiene can help prevent impetigo, which often develops when there is a sore or a rash that has been scratched repetitively (for example, poison ivy can get infected and turn into impetigo). Impetigo is typically treated with antibiotics.
Signs and Symptoms
Impetigo may affect skin anywhere on the body but commonly occurs around the nose and mouth, hands, and forearms. When impetigo is caused by group A streptococcus, it begins as tiny blisters. These blisters eventually burst and leave small wet patches of red skin that may weep fluid. Gradually, a tan or yellowish-brown crust covers the affected area, making it look like it has been coated with honey or brown sugar.
Impetigo that is caused by staphylococcus aureus triggers larger fluid-containing blisters that appear clear, then cloudy. These blisters are more likely to stay intact longer on the skin without bursting.
Contagiousness
Impetigo may itch and can be spread by scratching. Kids can spread the infection by scratching it and then touching other parts of the body.Impetigo is contagious and can spread to anyone who comes into contact with infected skin or other items, such as clothing, towels, and bed linens, that have been touched by infected skin.
Treatment
When it just affects small areas of the skin, impetigo can usually be treated with antibiotic ointment. But if the infection has spread to many areas of the body, or the ointment isn't working, your child's doctor may prescribe an antibiotic pill or liquid.Once antibiotic treatment begins, healing should start within a few days. It's important to make sure that your child takes the medication as the doctor has prescribed it. If that doesn't happen, a deeper skin infection or a blood infection could develop.
While the infection is healing, gently wash the areas of infected skin with clean gauze and antiseptic soap every day. Soak any areas of crusted skin in warm soapy water to help remove the layers of crust (it is not necessary to completely remove all of it).
To keep your child from spreading impetigo to other parts of the body, your child's doctor or nurse will probably recommend covering infected areas of skin with gauze and tape or a loose plastic bandage. Keep your child's fingernails short and clean.
Prevention
Good hygiene practices, such as regular hand washing, can help prevent impetigo. Use soap and water to clean your child's skin and be sure your child takes baths or showers regularly. Pay special attention to areas of the skin that have been injured, such as cuts, scrapes, bug bites, areas of eczema, and rashes caused by allergic reactions or poison ivy. Keep these areas clean and covered.Make sure that anyone in your family with impetigo keeps his or her fingernails cut short and that the impetigo sores are covered with gauze and tape.
Prevent impetigo infection from spreading among family members by using antibacterial soap and making sure that each family member uses a separate towel. If necessary, substitute paper towels for cloth ones until the impetigo is gone. Separate the infected person's bed linens, towels, and clothing from those of other family members, and wash these items in hot water.
When to Call Your Child's Doctor
Call your child's doctor if your child has signs of impetigo, especially if he or she has been exposed to a family member or classmate with the infection. If your child is already being treated for impetigo, keep an eye on the sores and call the doctor if your child's skin doesn't begin to heal after 3 days of treatment, or if a fever develops. If the area around the rash becomes red, warm, or tender to the touch, notify your child's doctor as soon as possible.

QUESTION:
chicken pox twice ? and over 40...?
I just got diagnosed with chicken pox yesterday(4'th day of break up) even though I had it when I was a child.I have no fever, weakness or loss of apetite but those pimples around my face and body. What I'm really concern is,will I get scars this time?is there anything to prevent it?internal or externally...-
ANSWER:
They're sure it's chicken pox? Not shingles? If you've had CP as a child, you have the herpes zoster virus in your body for the rest of your life. The only thing you should ever get from it is shingles---not another case of CP. That is just weird. I hope you are on Valtrex or other anti-viral. Don't scratch the sores, then they won't scar. If they get near your eyes--go to the emergency room immediately. Use Calamine lotion to help dry them out and stop the itch. If they leave marks after healing, use a stick of cocoa butter on them.

QUESTION:
Help! Question about chicken pox scars?
Ok so I'm just getting over the chicken pox and I didn't really scratch at them much, well at least not on purpose, some of them would just accidently rub against something, like my pillow and they would break open, but that only happened to one or two.Anyway they are all scabs now and I'm making sure that I dont pick them but it seems like the scabs are like coming off on their own.....and I'm worried that they are gonna form scars even if i didnt pick them.
So im wondering if these will still make scars and if so is there anything I can put on them now to prevent permanent scars in the future??
Also, I'm half black so my skin is kind of caramel colored, will this have any effect on the scarring? I usually don't scar as much as other people
-
ANSWER:
Most likely there won't be any scarring - if they are coming off on their own that means your skin is healed and it's supposed to come off. If you do end up with scars though for some reason, try use Mederma. I got scars from a sunburn a while back and I put Mederma on them and they disappeared, no joke.It doesn't matter if they are old or new scars - I used it on my face for a couple of acne scars, and they are history too! I'm always really skeptical of those kinds of products, but I can personally say that one works.

This purifies the blood stream and ensures basic cleansing of blood & keeps acne away. Garlic contains Allicin which is a natural antibiotic agent and this helps to prevent the spread of acne. Mix a spoonful of fuller’s earth with a little apple cider vinegar and apply this paste to your face. Apple cider vinegar is acidic and helps to break down oils on the surface of your skin while fuller’s earth tends to absorb them. This reduces skin sebum levels and helps to treat acne. You should use an acne treatment face pack at least once a week to deep cleanse your skin and prevent the formation of acne pustules. To increase the effectiveness of this acne treatment you could steam your face before you apply the face pack. If you are pressed for time, you can have a hot shower instead of steaming your face as this too would help to temporarily open up your skin pores.

ANSWER:
Lea - Although the severity of the rash varies from person to person, all people with chickenpox need to minimize scratching the rash to prevent infection from bacteria under your fingernails or on the skin of your hands. To prevent scarring you can treat itching from the chickenpox rash at home with baths and certain over-the-counter medicines and lotions. Try a computer search for Chickenpox Scar Treatment. Best consult would be from a skin doctor (dermatologist). Also, try asking your local pharmacist.

QUESTION:
I Hate the scar's on my legz ]=?
ok so when i was little i got the chicken pox and my mom let me scatch them now i have lots of dark spots all over my legs. i'm so embarrassed to wear shorts and thing's during the summer. is there any fading cream that works fast to get rid of this ugly scar's??? PLEASE HELP!!!!-
ANSWER:
Well it does take a little while (at least a month i think) but you could get microdermabrasion.
My mom owns a spa and I tried it out on my scar on my upper thigh (unsanitary city pool gave me ring worm). I think it was almost gone after 3 treatments. I should have gotten a fourth but it's barely visible anymore.
Microdermabrasion uses crystals to remove the dead layer of skin (60% of your skin). Immediately after treatment you have all live skin (so you should avoid prolonged sun exposure or anything abrasive to the face) and later it will be 60% live and 40% dead (a 20% increase in live skin). So I think after a few treatments it will have removed the scar tissue and you will have new skin. You might also try some Vitamin E cream, it helps to prevent scaring so maybe it will help remove it.
Good luck!
